The autogyro display can either be flown directly from take off or from a holding position away from the display site.
Duration: Take off and land at site - 8 minutes
From holding point (abeam crowd line) - 5 minutes, 30 seconds
Bad weather display - 5 minutes
The shortened, bad weather display, can be flown when the weather is unfit for the full sequence. This display can be flown down to a minimum of a 300ft cloudbase if taking off and landing at the site, or a 500 ft cloudbase if starting from the holding position, both with a minimum visibility of 1500 metres.
The Sequence: (Can readily be changed to suit site and situation)
From site:
Line up
Pre-rotate
Take-off
Climb around datum
Tight spiral descent to 200ft (sequence starts here if arriving from delay)
Head on crowd approach, 200ft descending to 100ft
90 degree tight turn towards up wind direction
360 degree tight turn
Fast run along display line - 95 mph
360 degree tight turn
Slow run along display line - 25 mph
360 tight turn
Cruise speed run (60 - 65 mph) along display line with tight 360 degree turn at datum and continuing along display line
360 tight turn
50 mph display line run with both hands off ( waving)
If on site landing:
90 degree climbing turn to 300ft
270 degree reversed turn to line up with landing direction
Precision landing at datum, stop within 20 metres.
If departing display:
At display line end, commence climb out
When clear display area, climbing turn to depart crowd abeam
